With not much else to do, it comes as no shock that our social media usage is at an all-time high.
Research conducted in May across 20 countries, reported that 42% of consumers globally said they’re now spending longer on social media because of the outbreak, rising to 54% among Gen Z.
With more than 4 billion people around the world now using social media each month, it’s an opportunity which really can’t be wasted.
So how can SMEs use this to their advantage?
Turn your downtime around – Whether your business has had to unfortunately close due to lockdown, or if business has just gone a little quiet, use this time to focus on finessing your socials.
First things first, are you already on social media?
Adopt social media as one of your marketing channels – it’s free and has huge potential. It’s your chance to jump on the increased usage as mentioned above. You don’t need to use it for sales, but more for brand awareness, loyalty and most importantly, building a community.
There are so many online tools to help you along the way. Scheduling software such as Hootsuite or Planoly will help you to plan out all of your content for the weeks ahead, so you can ensure you always have content ready. Canva is the perfect graphic design platform for all. Super simple to use, but allows you to create beautiful, professional designs every time.
And lastly, use these platforms as a way to communicate with your existing customers and prospects. Don’t be afraid to start the conversation – you’ll soon see the benefits.
