COVID-19 - Partner Update 5, 17th April

Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab has confirmed a three-week extension to the UK lockdown, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Right across the channel, Partners and Service Providers continue to adapt to the current situation in order to provide the best possible service to their customers.

The resilience and positivity we’ve seen from our Partners has been exceptional. The support that you’re providing highlights the key role that our channel plays within the UK.

Statement from Openreach

In our capacity as a Service Provider, we continue to work closely with industry bodies such as Ofcom, FCS and Openreach, in order to influence and limit the impact that the pandemic will have on the channel and your customers.

Openreach have been very responsive to the changing situation and have provided regular updates, based on UK Government advice.

Openreach released a statement this week announcing a range of initiatives, which aim to provide support to Partners. We support this announcement and we are committed to quickly bringing this to fruition so that you can take this to your customers.

We are working closely with Openreach to understand how these initiatives will work in practical terms, so that we can provide you with the best possible information and support.

Because of the complex nature of the provisioning process with Openreach and other providers within the supply chain, we recommend that Partners hold off from taking any immediate action, until the processes and requirements are better understood.
