Leadership Team

Adam Cathcart
Managing Director, Partner divisionAdam has over 15 years’ experience in the industry and has held a number of senior & board roles in a Sales and General Management capacity, with the Dixon Stores Group, Outsourcery & Zest 4. He also founded a reseller business that was born in the cloud with a focus on Unified Communications and mobility, which he ran for 3 years before transitioning into 9 Group in 2016. Adam has spent a large portion of his career working within the channel and takes great pride in supporting partners to develop and grow their business.
Adam has a sporting background having represented Great Britain at the World Junior Championships in Ice Hockey. He has maintained an interest in sport and is a keen follower of Motor Racing and Manchester United whilst often visiting the US and Canada to watch Ice Hockey.

Anna Roper
Sales Director, Partner divisionSince starting in telecoms in 1997, Anna has worked for many different companies within the carrier space, before joining Nine Wholesale in 2007.
Anna’s tenacious and inquisitive nature enables her to provide a consistently high level of service to her partners, frequently going above and beyond to make sure a partner has what they need to secure business. A particular part of her role that Anna enjoys is helping partners through the minefield of next gen products and solutions to make sure they’re comfortable with the technologies and are confident enough to take the solution to market.

Rob Downes
Head of Technical SalesFollowing graduation from the University of Central Lancashire with a degree in Communication Technology, Rob entered the Telecoms arena in the early 2000s. Holding roles in both sales and management, Rob has worked exclusively with cloud and mobility platforms since 2011. With experience of both the direct market and the channel, Rob is conversant with the challenges and benefits of delivering a true UC solution and is an advocate of the positive changes heralded by Digital Transformation.
Before his current role, Rob was part of the senior leadership team at a cloud focused reseller, which was then acquired by 9, thus enabling Rob to enjoy a happy reunion, having first worked for 9 between 2007 and 2011.
Outside of work Rob balances his time between a young family and sport. A self-confessed ‘golf bore’, any spare moment (outside of ferrying his daughters to baby-ballet, gymnastics and a myriad of other children’s activities) is spent on the course.

Barry Wyatt
Head of EngineeringBarry began his 20-year career in telecommunications learning and installing cabling infrastructure, which led him to question; why do I install the cables and someone else puts the system on the end? Barry’s subsequent experience across the widest range of PBX and Hosted Systems has enabled many different types of businesses to benefit from the importance of a well-designed and functioning voice solution.
Barry’s experience helps manage, prioritise and direct 9’s engineering resource, but in addition to the highest levels of technical competence, he is able to monitor and coach the engineering and network services team to deliver the best possible customer service.
When Barry’s not fixing systems he loves spending time with his family, a normal weekend starts with his son saying, “Daddy lets go on an adventure”…

Mark Johnson
Partner Development DirectorPrior to his Telecoms career, Mark’s background was in retail banking and equipment Leasing, but he then joined 9 in the Club Communications days back in 2006, having previously served on carrier account teams at Cable & Wireless, Energis and Telia.
Mark has close empathy with the channel, having also worked at a Midlands based PBX dealer and is perpetually looking to make every transaction with 9’s operations team an even more successful and positive experience for our Partners, Mark is exceptionally proud of his support team, whom he rates as the best in the industry.
Considering himself calm, reassuring and effective under pressure, Mark draws on skills honed in both RAF aeromedical evacuation, as well as vintage motorcycle roadside repairs in all weathers.
Living in Stourbridge, just 300 metres from the Digital Local Exchange and even closer to a micro-brewery, he describes life as good.

Vicki Mackay
Head of Partner OperationsVicki joined 9 Group in 2011 as a Customer Service Advisor and since then has progressed on to become Head of Partner Operations. Having gained experience in both the Retail and Partner division, Vicki has a great understanding of the many intricacies of Telecoms.
Good customer service costs nothing and it’s the value we need to bring to the table for our Partners. Vicki’s tenacious personality ensures she and her team consistently deliver the highest level of customer service for our Partners.
Vicki recently completed her degree with the Open University in Business Management finishing with First Class Honours. Vicki can now enjoy even more time running, sailing and generally being out in the fresh air with her beautiful dog Finley and her husband.

Tara Kelman
Head of Partner CommercialsTara joined 9 in 2013 – it was her first taste of Telecoms after working as a Sales Planner for cars and then Account Manager for a greeting card company. Since joining 9 Tara has immersed herself in all our product areas to ensure she understands the extensive portfolio in order to strive for the best commercial offerings. Tara has an eye for detail that is second to none and she can always be seen heavily focused on a spreadsheet with a plethora of formula
Tara has two teenage children, so outside of work is mainly playing the taxi driver role – but when she does get free time she enjoys swimming, painting (walls not landscapes) and getting away in her campervan to chill out.

Paula Sologub
Finance ManagerPaula has worked in Finance for 30 years, joining 9 Group in the Summer of 2020, as Finance Manager. Previously Paula has worked for Facilities Management companies and in practice.
As part of the senior leadership team, Paula enjoys the challenges and variation of her role. Most recently involving the acquisition of 9 Group by Onecom and the processes and controls surrounding this.
When Paula isn’t being kept on her toes by her daughter Isla, she loves all things active – whether that be running, the gym, walking. The chances are if you ask Paula what she has been up to it will likely involve some form of exercise!

Bernie Young
Head of Business ImprovementBernie joined 9 as part of an acquisition back in May 2013. Her previous experience was in the banking industry and although new to Telecoms, the position as Commercial Manager at 9 was a perfect fit for her wealth of experience and knowledge. Over the past eight years Bernie has immersed herself in the industry, to gain a solid understanding of the business and its Partners.
Within the role of Head of Business Improvement, Bernie works closely with all the teams across 9, from operations to finance. She enjoys the challenge and variation that the role brings, where no two days are the same.
With two grown up boys, Bernie now has the time to enjoy a morning run and a brisk evening walk after dinner. When she gets the chance, Bernie enjoys spending time visiting her big Irish family in Donegal.
