Each month we share an insight to one of our fantastic team members at Onecom Partners. This month we would like to introduce you to the lovely Tara Kelman. Read on to find out a bit more about the role she plays in the business and a little sneak peek into what she gets up to outside of the office.
“June will see me mark 10 years with Onecom Partners and indeed within the Telecoms industry - my past roles have included working in Sales Planning in the motoring industry and in Account Management for a greeting card company. When I first started in Telecoms, I couldn’t get my head around all the acronyms! But I soon realised I had the skills and expertise from my previous roles to really make a difference. I immersed myself in all our product areas so I could fully understand the extensive portfolio, to be able to offer the business a broad commercial understanding.
My role within Onecom Partners takes the lead on all things commercial and I’m lucky that my job sees me regularly interact with many departments around both the Partner business and the wider Onecom Group. I’m often involved in many projects simultaneously, so prioritisation is an important part of what I do.
It is a turbulent time in the UK right now and price increases are becoming a more regular occurrence in our personal and business lives. When I receive a pricing notification from a supplier, the first thing I do is fully read it to ensure I have captured all the information that our management team will need to know. I’ll then do a full impact analysis to see what the overall implications are to our Partners. We always try to absorb supplier price changes however on some occasions, like more recently, we have had no choice but to pass these on. If prices do need to increase, it’s important to communicate to the correct people, so understanding your customer base and keeping up to date contact details are essential.
It’s also a good opportunity to look at your base to see if there are any charges that have been missed in the past. It’s great to fully understand how you onward bill-tariffs, whether that is by passthrough with a mark-up, or a manual fixed charge to your customers.
When I’m not engrossed in spreadsheets, I have 2 children who are wrapped up in A Level and GCSE revision as they both have exams starting in May. My time is mostly spent being a taxi for my daughter as she follows her passion for everything relating to the performing arts and my son who is a keen Explorer and Young Leader (Scouting).
If I’m not playing taxi driver I enjoy swimming, painting (walls not landscapes!) and getting away in the campervan when I can. I also love a show and my daughter's love of performing arts has seen me dragged along (okay I love it) to many a musical!”
